FOREIGN RELATED LITERATURE
EQUIPMENT AND PROCESS PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT USING AUTOMATED MONITORING SYSTEM (PRAKASH POOBALAN MAY 2009)
In their study entitled Equipment and Process Performance Improvement Using Automated Monitoring System is for engineers working on maintaining, troubleshooting, design/improving equipment’s and process always lack of efficient tool to help them track equipment state and improve the utilization. A factory monitoring tool that facilitates the analysis of a manufacturing system, by integrating KPIV and OEE metrics is studied in this project.
Such a system allows factory professionals to analyze system performance by automatically evaluating the productivity metrics of equipment using the tool. This is extended to evaluate the metrics at subsystem level and thereon to the factory level and also to detect the bottleneck elements in the system. This tool paves way for further research on continuous productivity improvement methods development.
This study could relate to the system for it was also aimed to monitors daily information the monitoring of tools and equipment became easier for the management to identify if there’s a loss of tools and equipment’s.
RFID technology having sensing aptitudes for food industry and their contribution to tracking and monitoring of food products
The presented literature studies, mainly in the agrifood sector, demonstrate how RFID may meet our needs for a better monitoring of food quality by coupling radio frequency communication and traceability. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology has considerably grown in the past few years and is nowadays sought to be implemented for the identification of products and for traceability in the agrifood sector, ensuring food safety and quality.
The implementation of sensors which is a very new technology being studied and concomitantly developed may lead to a better detection of food degradation markers and thus to a reduction in food loss which is one of the world’s major issue. This interfacing would lead to a better monitoring of packaging headspace by means of the development of different sensors.
This study could relate to the proposed system since it is a RFID in order to monitor the food quality and it could generate reports.
An Automated Barcode System for Tracking and Control of Engineering Deliverables
According to this study the use of barcode technology has proven its effectiveness in a number of industries such as retail and manufacturing.
This is due to its ability to assist in organizing, storing, retrieving and making use of huge amount of data in an efficient manner. This paper highlights the potential use of barcode technology in the construction industry. It focuses mainly on presenting an automated system for tracking and control of engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports and specifications.
The system utilizes barcode technology and database management systems (DBMS) for performing its task. The paper briefly describes the various types of barcode labels, scanners and decoders and focuses primarily on presenting a barcode system that is designed to facilitate coding of information pertaining to a wide variety of documents produced in the construction environment.
The paper also presents a schematic diagram for a database system designed to retrieve a wide variety of information in a multi-project environment. A plan for validating the developed system is also presented.
This study could relate to the system since it was capable using barcode to easily monitor and control of engineering deliverables and easier to generates report.
LOCAL RELATED LITERATURE
Inventory System
Inventory System for Best Choice Rice Dealer”by Bisagas, Arivada, and Tanteo (October 2009). The process of counting the sacks of rice is done manually, which corresponds to difficulty in tallying the number of available stocks and sold items. The Manual generation of inventory reports such as daily, weekly, quarterly and annual inventory list of records remains as one of their key problem since the establishment of the business.
The transaction processing system for Best Choice Rice Dealer will minimize the difficulty the owner in processing inventory. It will monitor the availability of product items for reorder to prevent under stocking, overstocking or running out of stocks. The system will also generate necessary reports of inventory such as sales reports.
This study could relate to the system for it was also aimed to process automatically for the inventory reports. The system helps to develop the easiest way on how to automate the inventory and the sales report.
Monitoring and Inventory
In the study from Averion, Gaela, and Libo (2009) entitled “Monitoring and Inventory for discovery Mall.com”, it stated that “It will minimize the difficulty of the manager in processing inventory because physical counting products, stocks and computing inventory summary will be the system job.
It will monitor the availability of products, items to prevent under stocking, over stocking and running out of stocks. The system will also simplify the transaction between dealer and supplier relationship because of the updated supplier information and price list of items will correspond to collaboration with other supplier.”
This study could relate to the system for it was also aimed to process automatically for the inventory reports. The system provides a simple way for the enhancement of the business.
Laboratory Equipment Monitoring System: Towards Paperless Management
This study aimed to design laboratory management software to effectively manage equipment maintenance, borrowing and returning, failure analysis, inventory, repair, scheduling, and flexible report generation process. The development strategies used in the project analysis, design and development include a thorough analysis and evaluation of both the existing and the first prototype of the proposed system. Waterfall model was used in the development of the system.
The system had undergone the following stages: requirements gathering and analysis, system design, implementation, testing, deployment and maintenance in the said development. The respondents were composed of ITE students, teaching and non-teaching employees. Comprehensive analysis of the results of the evaluation was applied as basis for conclusions.
The evaluation showed that majority of the respondents from the three groups assessed the software as very acceptable in terms of functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability and portability.
This study could relate to the system for it was very acceptable in gaining real time visibility in equipment inventory, maintenance and borrowing and returning, and that it is also very acceptable in providing reports at the same time provide history recording of the different processes available.
