because mysql is old version and is not accessable in php 7 its upgraded to mysqli_connect.

However I updated my xampp which now uses PHP v8 and 10.4.28-MariaDB and as you can imagine I ran into a number of ‘snags’ and it seems fron the comments others are having similar challenges. I now have a working version on the above platforms which I am happy to send to you
